KC8NZJ | Cuyahoga | District EC | 6 | Fixed | 3855 | Glad to see the event held on the ARRL VHF contest weekend. Please consider moving to Sunday so ARES times completely overlap ARRL times to avoid multiple logs. Having to get 6 digit grid was an unnecessary complication. Please change to either 4 digit grid, or just county like before. |

KG4SCK | Summit | No | 4 | Fixed | 740 | Thank you for my 1st Contest and playing on 6 Meters. I feel I have cleared the RF hurdle at my apartment testing out 6 meters on my Hamstick. It also allowed me to identify and successfully trouble shoot keying up 6 Meters causing my laptop to turn off. This made a less than suitable start but paper logging is also a needed skill to practice. I guess the 2 icoms wanted to sit side by side and not with a laptop and monitor between them, HiHi. I assume KA8OAD is an ARES Official and got Ken on all bands and W8WOO is an EOC I got on 6M. I also made a great pot of bean soup while contesting! Thanks N8EI. 73’s KG4SCK |

In a previous year I operated from home and was very pleasantly surprised at the distance I contacted others and the number of participants. Our antenna at the Hardin county EOC may be a little low for work outside the county. |

KD8ZEI | Medina | Fixed | 4769 | 4 | Another great year for simplex operation! It is always fun to see how far you can reach out. In 2022, I completely revamped my station. Antennas used in the contest all fed with 1/2″ hardline. Hustler g6144-b at 60ft. Cushcraft 215wb at 55ft, and 6m 6 element beam at 40ft. 19 counties!

W8Z | Rover | Rover | 2966 | 6 | Multiple contacts with the Preble County EOC from four different counties! We also had one aeronautical contact! Longest distance contact was roughly 75 miles in distance. We operated with a one day 1×1 call W8Z. My personal callsign is W8RIH. One of our contacts was also participating in Parks on the Air 3-man rover team. One operator, one logger, one driver. This was our first contest. We had a BLAST! Thanks
N8XC | Asst EC | Preble | Fixed | 2774 | 6 | Had a great time! Didn’t seem like the propagation helped us at all this year. Really appreciate the rover stations that helped the overall contact count! |

AB8M | Asst DEC | Cuyahoga | Fixed | 826 | 2 | Very cool to work KD8TJB on a J-pole he built that morning and threw on the air! I really think we should consider combining this with the ARRL JAN VHF – it would increase activity for both contests and I likely would have been able to justify putting more time into it – but I knew I’d be spending most of next weekend in the shack and limited my shack time today. |
KE8QEP | Portage | Fixed | 800 | 6 | Fun contest! Thanks for all the contacts, 73 KE8QEP
kd8tjb | Geauga | Fixed | 784 | 6 | Built a 6 meter J-pole out of old Romex this morning; made 3 contacts with it – but it worked from Auburn to Columbiana County and out to North Royalton. This was fun.

WW8TF/R | Rover | 10321 | 5 | Solo rove this year. Started in Wayne Co. over 20 minutes late from my published schedule due to a combination of self-inflected reasons. Went quickly from Wayne to Medina to Summit. Took a short break and then worked from Portage followed by Stark. The Stark location used in 2020 and 2022 is not a good location. It’s only a few miles from the Portage location and equivalent elevation however it performs much poorer. Setup was the mostly the same as previous years except the radio this year was a Yaesu FT-8900. Way down on county multis this year. I heard a few “exotic” locations a few times but they couldn’t hear me. |

W8JTW | Washington | 5508 | 4 | Operated From N8OJ Tower Site in Washington County ; 2 meter antenna height 190 foot ran 280 watts. 6 meter antenna height 150 feet ran 100 watts. Worked 27 Ohio Counties and 7 in West Virginia 34 total. Worked 8 of the 10 Ohio ARES Districts. Worked 5 of the 10 WV ARES Districts. Worked all counties in Ohio D9 except 1. Furthest contact air miles Marietta Ohio Washington County to Wapakoneta OH Auglaize County 163 air miles on 2 meter FM. Was fun Looking forward to next year. |
W8WOO | Wayne | 5316 | 6 | Wayne County ARES operating as W8WOO. We operated four bands – 6, 2, 1.25 meters and 70 cm. |

K8SGX | Geauge | 3510 | 4 | |
K8FH | Portable / Medina | 3100 | 5 | All contacts except one were made on FM phone, the exception was a single SSB contact on two meters. No CW or digital contacts as in previous years. I operated from a park in Medina County. As I was tearing down at the end of the day, a gentleman walking his dog came up to me and thanked me for being a ham radio operator. When he was in the service, in the Coast Guard and stationed over seas, he kept in contact with his family back in the states through MARS operators. |
KD8ODF/R | Rover | 2445 | 8 | I operated as a rover in Mahoning, Trumbull, Portage, and Summit counties. Another excellent event this year, thanks to all who help organize and participate! |
